History of Performer / Band |
Yvonne Perea's original music is a moving
mix of blues, folk, and pop, infused with her thick, soulful
voice. Whether ballads, such as the lyrically poignant
"Tommorrow's Day," or blues, like the groovin'
"Keeper of It All," Perea's sound always makes
each song uniquely hers--a distinction she has unquestionably
earned. Perea is the embodiment of the strong female musician--and
she delivers every time.
Perea has been singing and playing guitar for more
than 23 years and writing songs for 22. She has written
and played with artists such as Susan Gibson, the writer
of the Dixie Chicks' award-winning song, "Wide
Open Spaces" and Matt Bissonette, world class bassist. |
Press Reviews / Credits |
"Perea's greatest strength is her
boldness to reveal herself—-heart, mind, and soul—-to
her audience. Her full, strong voice and confident guitar-playing
skills are mere channels through which the true triumph
is discovered—Perea herself."—Meredith
Hoyer for radiospy.com
"Yvonne Perea's new CD "My Peace" shows
remarkable growth since her last release, "Tomorrow's
Day," and that one was already pretty damn good.
While listening in my car I kept thinking, gee, if folks
are tired waiting for the next Bonnie Raitt CD, well,
they need to by this one; the quality level is right
on par with the best."—JD Doyle, Producer
of Queer Music Heritage on KPFT, Houston, and co-producer
of AudioFile, on This Way Out. |
