Wayward Dragon started its early existence in late 2005 when the band consisted of Justin Sager (guitar/vocals), Mike Segovia (drums), and Rob Keith (bass guitar). Within a month of their formation, they recorded rough tracks for their first album and played their first show in November at a place called Spiro's in Sparks. The band's set list consisted of 4 originals and the rest of them tasteful covers by the likes of Joe Satriani, Iron Maiden, Aerosmith, Jeff Beck, Dream Theater, and Jimi Hendrix.

Then in early 2006 Rob Keith decided to leave on account of musical differences. Without even having time to look for a replacement, Justin's father Eric Sager, who had already bought a bass long before Keith left, decided to join. From that point forward, the band started to mesh very well and decided to record their first album one night at Mike's house. Armed only with a clever engineer, Brian Lester, and their instruments, they managed to get the best sound they could despite recording live. Then when the album was finally pressed it was distributed and was immediately received very well.

And now, as Wayward Dragon approaches summer 2006, the band will be touring extensively throughout the Reno/Tahoe area and will gain notoriety in the process.
