History of Performer / Band |
Todd began singing and playing piano
at age 5, wrote his first songs and taught himself to
play guitar at age 12; sang with various choirs and
youth groups including pop, madrigal, opera, and jazz;
has performed with numerous bands singing lead vocals
and playing whatever instrument the band of the moment
requires (acoustic and electric guitars, bass guitar,
keyboards, percussion, etc.) for crowds as large as
50,000; has written more than 150 songs and has been
self-producing his own recordings & albums since
childhood.
Classically trained as a singer, Todd's own music has
always been centered on strong vocal harmonies and minimalist,
melodic arrangements. During the late 80's, Todd worked
professionally on stage and as a session musician, but
eventually turned to working in the computer network
industry to support his growing family.
After a 7 year "dry spell", Todd began to
write his best and most memorable songs with
Lisa South (née Callahan), a collaboration
that become a marriage in 1998! From 1994-2001, Todd,
Lisa, David Lok, and Sterling
Brown wrote and recorded music for the
Hippy Dye Cowboy project.
In February 2002, Todd got together with
Lenny Supera and Cap
Stapp for an informal jam session. Having "met"
via MP3.com, no one could have predicted that a new
band was forming, but within two weeks Burning
Peace was born (named after a favorite Hippy
Dye Cowboy song).
For several years, thousands of fans have been listening
to Hippy
Dye Cowboy songs via the Internet or on CD, but
the creation of Burning
Peace marks the first time this music has been performed
live since Todd's 1996 solo tour of the southwest and
northeast United States.
Todd and his wife own & operate their own business
(NevadaPages
Internet Services) and spend a great deal of time
chasing after their four children, all of whom enjoy
singing and playing music with their freaky ol' dad.

Press Reviews / Credits |
Interviewed by local, national and international
television & newspaper journalists several times
since 1984. Most of the clippings & tapes were lost
to history in the Great Storage Unit Fiasco of 2002.

Samples of fan mail for the Hippy
Dye Cowboy project:
"I don't know much about music. Can't carry a
tune in a mason jar with a lid clamped on it. I know
what I like...I like your Iguana trilogy. I've been
listening to it loop several times and I don't see myself
getting sick of it anytime soon."
"I bought a copy of your CD and, hey, it didn't
suck! It had a late 60's quality to it that brought
back some fond memories. One of the things I liked most
was the minimalist production. I can't stand over produced
records that lose the music in all the bullsh*t. Let
me know when the next Hippy Dye Cowboy album is available!"
"Just finished listening to 'I Feel Fine'. WOW!!!
You guys just keep getting better. You're better than
the Eagles! I can't say that you have a huge following
here at Scott AFB, but the list is slowly growing. I
can't wait for more instrumentals like 'Blue Iguana'
and 'Siren Song'. Keep it up!" |
