History of Performer / Band Based out of the Reno/Tahoe area of Northern Nevada, Ted Vieira is a professional guitarist with over twenty years of experience in performance, composition and teaching. Whether performing solo jazz guitar in a quiet intimate setting, or on stage with a full band, Ted's style is smooth, refined and tasteful.

Beginning his career in Anchorage, Alaska, Ted began playing in dance and jazz bands there until 1982, when he moved to Portland, Oregon.

While living and playing in the Northwestern United States, Ted studied with jazz guitarist John Stowell and pursued his musical studies at Mt. Hood Community College. While at Mt. Hood, Ted played in the award winning MHCC Jazz Lab Band, with whom he performed as a featured soloist in the 1989 Mt. Hood Jazz Festival. He was also listed on the Guitar Teaching Staff at Mt. Hood Community College.

During his time in Portland, Ted performed in jazz clinics with artists such as saxaphonist, Pete Christlieb (Steely Dan/The Tonight Show Band/Quincy Jones) and trumpet player, Bobby Shew (Tommy Dorsey Orchestra/Art Pepper/Buddy Rich).

From 1987 to 1989, in addition to Ted's usual dance, funk and jazz gigs, he also worked in the pit orchestra for the Portland Civic Theater under the direction of conductor, Jon Newton.

Through the '90s, Ted remained based out of Portland, OR, performing in funk, rock and jazz bands throughout the Northwestern United States until 1998, when he relocated to Reno, NV.

Ted's playing experience covers a wide variety of musical styles, but jazz and funk clearly dominate his sound.
