History of Performer / Band |
i started playing music as a little kid and went through piano,
clarinet and violin before settling with sax. i played sax in
symphonic and jazz band for high school. My senior year, i heard
the indigo girls "rites of passage" cd and fell in love with the
sound... i began teaching myself guitar.
after high school, i moved to santa cruz and began playing more
seriously (i.e. writing songs and such). i started a duo-band with
a friend called "jericho star". we played a few places in santa cruz,
private parties, etc... and dissolved the band when i moved to
reno.
in reno, i got even more serious about music and began playing
out with my brother, gabe. we met a few fellas who had the idea
that an internet based record label would be successful (before
napster got big), and we signed with them. we cut a few raw
albums on the spot in their studio.
then i went electric... and got a wee bit rowdier. i played as "tacytraverso.com" around reno with a drummer and bassist
and we drew a decent crowd. we cut "demo session" during that time.
then i quit music altogether, for a few reasons. the most punctuated being that i lost my oldestbrother, pablo, who was
both my hero and the coolest man i knew on this planet. his death threw me into a severe depression and i was fairly
useless at everything i attempted; hence, aside from selling my motorcycle, music fell by the wayside. (i finally wrote a
song about him, however: "for him".)
now i'm back to music; it's time to learn to write when there is no pain...or perhaps, to find pain in other places (like
stubbing my toe on the sofa). i did join a local band, but that didn't work out so i left them. i'll be putting together a solo
act in the next few months so please stay tuned. |
