Pufferbilly was founded in 2001, in Reno, Nv. What began as an acoustic roots band, quickly gained notoriety and respect for their original sound and songwriting. They recorded their first album after only four months as a practicing and gigging band. But, the more they played, the more their sound progressed. Ultimately, the pufferbilly sound, and lineup changed. Still steeped in roots and soul, but with a heavier funk and rock expression, pufferbilly is laying tracks once again.

The pufferbilly sound lies somewhere in the realm of ... funk, rock, soul, roots, and reggae. Mixing influences from bluegrass to reggae, from hard-rock to soul, from folk to funk, pufferbilly comes together to form their own unique sound and style. Often incorporating dobro, hand drums, and even a little harp, pufferbilly lays down foot-stomping, tasty hooks that will have you o.c.d.'ing for days. Peppered with soulful vocals and truthseeking, real-life lyrics, the pufferbilly sound never fails to fill your bag. As Eric Stangland (convicted innocence, mama's trippin', audioboxx) once said, "One day, pufferbilly's gonna be playing in front of 10,000 moshing hippies!"
