History of Performer / Band |
Paula Joy Welter's gently powerful story
songs and acoustic finger-style guitar work have been
described as intriguing and enchanting. People of all
ages travel back to their own personal landscapes when
rediscovered through listening to her songs. Welter's
songs share a woman's intimate secrets, lessons learned,
and moments cherished, both as a child and as an adult.
Welter began writing songs in her early 40's, in 1993.
This relatively late start heightens the nostalgic and
intimate effect of her songwriting. Welter was raised
in La Crescenta, CA on the 60's folk rock. She sang
around family campfires and the dorms of L.A.'s Occidental
College. In the 20 years between her student days and
her current involvement in songwriting and performing,
her guitar gathered dust while she raised a son, studied
comparative literature, photography, stenography, and
survived some twists and turns she is open about during
performances. |
