History of Performer / Band |
Taking the stage has always come second
nature to Mike Rofé, the Sacramento based singer-songwriter.
Originally from the San Fernando Valley, Mike Rofé
began his musical pursuits in high school, writing songs,
singing, and playing drums for pop-rock band Spontaneous
Generation and the Moe influenced jam band Grüv.
Since then, Mike has changed gears concentrating closely
on a solo career, focusing on the craft of songwriting
and performing his original material for a wide variety
of audiences across California. In 2001, after teaming
up with Los Angeles artist Jenni Alpert for a summer tour
of Mike released the four song E.P. Groovy Tunes For Your
Ear Hole. Produced by Alpert, Groovy Tunes included the
sultry sleepless summer song "Hard On Each New Day"
and the audience favorite "Fairy Tales and Pennies,".
Groovy Tunes was the pre-curser to Mike's most recent
venture, Terms of Perfect. Produced by Squish The Bad
Man's Dave Middleton, the album's musical arrangements
of lead guitar lines, drums, and bass do a wonderful job
of complimenting Mike's solo performance.
Mike has been seen all over the Davis and Sacramento
scene as well as parts of southern California playing
a wide variety of coffee houses, restaurants, and bars,
as well as UC Davis's annual Picnic Day and The Whole
Earth Festival. Other notable performances include an
opening slot for Classical guitarist Chris Proctor at
the Wyatt Pavilion Theatre as well as feature performances
on Davis Community Television.
Currently, Mike can be found playing shows and open
mic nights in the Sacramento area. He generally plays
solo acoustic, but it isn't rare to see him playing
with backing musicians.
