History of Performer / Band |
Blarney was originally formed in 2000 as a trio in Truckee, California from a shared love of traditional Irish and Celtic music. Keith Shannon is one of the original members, Bob Nehls joined Blarney in 2001, and January 2005 the band became a trio once again with the addition of Danny Shannon.
The band members blend their strong, harmonious voices, with multiple instruments in a high-energy presentation of Irish, Scottish, and other Celtic music. Their constantly expanding repertoire includes traditional Irish and Scottish folk songs and ballads, both upbeat and emotional. Their audiences will recognize many familiar songs and are encouraged to sing along. Blarney will also throw in some sea shanties, contemporary Irish, and Irish American tunes. Of course, there will be the blarney, that is the ancient Irish oral tradition of flattery and stories along with the tunes. Their instruments include banjo, octave mandolin, violin, guitar, tin whistle, bodhran, mandolin, and bass. |
